Who qualifies for a tariff refund?
If your business imported goods into the U.S. as the importer of record and paid duties that turned out to be higher than required, most commonly Section 301 tariffs on China-origin goods or newer IEEPA-based tariffs, you may be able to recover part of what you paid. The clearest candidates import meaningful volumes, source from tariff-affected countries, and haven't had a formal duty-recovery review recently. The fastest way to know is our free 60-second Eligibility Checker.
What types of tariffs are actually refundable?
Recoveries typically come from a few sources: Section 301 tariffs (the additional duties on many China-origin goods), IEEPA-based tariffs that have been challenged or adjusted, product exclusions you were entitled to but didn't claim, misclassified HTS codes that carried a higher rate than correct, and duty-drawback on goods that were later exported. Not every duty is refundable, the value is in identifying which of yours are.
How much could I get back?
It depends on how much you've paid and how much of it was recoverable, there's no flat percentage. Importers with heavy Section 301 or IEEPA exposure tend to recover a larger share than those with little tariff-affected sourcing. Our Refund Estimator gives you a quick ballpark range from a couple of inputs; a specialist review of your actual entries turns that into a real number.
What does it cost, and how do fees work?
Checking eligibility and using every tool on this site is free. If you move forward, the engagement is success-based, a share of what's actually recovered, billed only after a refund comes through. If nothing is recovered, you owe nothing. There are no upfront or hourly fees.
Who actually files the claim, is this legitimate?
Tarisol is an independent referral partner of the Tariff Refund Agency (TRA). We help importers find out what they may be owed and connect qualified businesses with TRA, whose licensed customs brokers and trade attorneys prepare and file the claims with U.S. Customs. Tarisol is not U.S. Customs or a government agency and does not provide legal, customs, or tax advice.
How long does the process take?
The free eligibility review takes minutes. Once your entries are with TRA's specialists, timelines vary by claim type and CBP processing, but a managed filing is materially faster than doing it yourself, and in some cases advance-funding options through TRA can put money in your hands before the government finishes processing.
How far back can I claim?
Refund windows are deadline-driven and depend on the program and your entry dates, but many importers can review entries going back roughly two years or more. Because eligible entries age out, checking sooner protects claims that would otherwise expire.
Will this disrupt my operations or require a lot of work from my team?
No. The review works from your existing import and entry data (for example, your ACE entry summaries), there's no new system to adopt and no pause to your shipping. Most of the effort is on the specialists' side, not yours.
We're not sure which of our tariffs are refundable. Can you still help?
Yes, that's the whole point of the review. You don't need to know which entries qualify. Share the basics and the specialists identify the recoverable duties for you. Start with the Eligibility Checker or book a demo and we'll take it from there.
Is Tarisol giving legal or customs advice?
No. Tarisol provides educational tools and connects importers with the Tariff Refund Agency. Any legal, customs, or classification work is handled by TRA's licensed professionals. Estimates from our tools are illustrative and for planning only.
